Embroidery Projects

I've been rather busy working on projects. I've completed my redwork embroidery! I still need to iron it, though it's complete. It was the most time consuming work I've done in thread yet, and the most enjoyable too. I designed it completely based around stamps I've carved out by hand for projects I'm working on.

Here's a sneak peek (which already looks A LOT different, literally overnight) of the more recent project I'm working on for a local artists calling for Halloween! It's for Tates Comics, which has an amazing boutique, (Bear & Bird Boutique and Gallery) in the upstairs loft area where they host art, monthly gatherings for learning new crafts, and sell quite the amount of hard to find else where gifts. I'm rather excited to be a part of this :)

i've found lovely treasures lately. books, beautiful books! aged dearly & loved for well close to 100years. the smell.feel.look of vintage books sends my heart to the heavens!

and steel pins for the hand sewing i've been putting my hand to! i've finished my stamps, my inks arrived, the fabric has been cut, stamped, sewn, and is awaiting the sun for pictures to be taken! new products will be in the shop shortly.. mmm. you can see a part of the lovely hand embroidered hankie that i've also taken home

and what better way to realize that all is not good in the world than by enjoying a perfect sunny day off in the park with newly aquired trasures and crafts than by learning that the car window has been smashed in. luckily this foul individual smashed the window and didn't realize just how valuable my yoga mat and collection of nature items sitting in the back window really are. nor were they inticed by the heap of books i always drive around with. guh! they couldnt see through the glass that this hippie mobile has nothing of electronic-age value in it??! there is good in this. sometimes i do actually leave my beloved camera in the car (i like to heat up the film at some times to see if i can atain abstract colors with the rise in temperature) sometimes i do leave a bag in view (filled with craft supplies like overflowing mounds of yarn and fabric with a ruler and cutting mat.. ) that might spark some interest (a HUGH diamond might just be nested at the bottom of all that stuff you know..) but really, i learned from this. i cleaned my car. REALLY cleaned it out. brand new looking, even. i'm thinking of making a plaque stated that nothing of value is hidden anywhere within the car, as i am letting those things pass me by as i play in the woods.

Last Day Of July

this was my personally set goal for July, to open the virtual doors on my Etsy Shop, and I did it!

i offer FREE SHIPPING within the United States (i know that i myself don't enjoy paying for something i cant grasp.. like shipping/handling)

There's A Magical Place In Miami

today was a beautiful day! i spent my time in the sunshine in some good company and kept my hands busy for nearly 5 or 6 hours working on a hat in blues and white. i absolutely LOVE the way yarn holds shape when its been frogged. I'm currently working on filling glass jars with colors and shapes like this to keep upon my window. {it also makes taking apart works a little easier on the heart.. as this previous work could have taken hours or days only to become spaghetti-like!}

i have a love/hate for flowers. i gravitate towards having / enjoying potted plants verses potted flowers, yet i enjoy they're captivating colors!

I've redeemed my bookstore gift card - I'll be crafting until my hands fall off with all these new ideas at my disposal. I've been working on a new craft more or less, monthly - looks like machine sewing is next

A few from my days..

what an enchanted & wonderous place covered in ferns i went to just recently.. and it's a place I've been to many times before! all of this Florida rain has been doing some good to all the green life that's been sleeping since the winter.

and look at that sunset! Sweetboy and i had my birthday dessert on the water front. when i worked closer {much much closer} to home, he'd bring lunch each day and I'd take break and we'd escape the hustle and bustle for a short while

i took 10days off from work to celebrate my 25th year. the first few days were spent eating, cleaning and relaxing, the next handful will be spent getting my things together and living in the woods of Northern Florida - crafting up a storm!

i managed to finally clean up my room and organize it into what i've envisioned for so long. more bookshelves, an area specifically for the computer, developed film, and all things electronic as well as an area for creating. i've ironed and folded fabric, displayed my camera collection, organized my books by subject matter and size, and things of that nature.

biggest achievement? letting go. notes, homework, random bits that i've gathered for who knows what reason. one example is pens. i am emotionally attached to objects which remind me of days passed. - i must have owned somewhere between 2-3hundred pens. PENS! most of which have long since dried out! i tested them all and kept only those in working order. WHY and HOW have i managed this over the years?

Nature made a gift for me to find.. a beautiful bracelet made of twisted wood which opened my eyes just a little bit more towards the magical abilities of this earth. it also made me ponder the thought of how long it has now been since i've stopped adorning my body with jewelry.

i haven't posted in some time due to working on art projects for a contest i decided to enter. The deadline is monday, and i've so much left to do.. yet in the grips of the internet! i'll be sure to post photos after its completion.. it has to do with the ocean, my inspiration for so much.

after i use up the stockpile of Polaroid film i have i'll be back to my previous work with my TLRs. i miss them dearly though can't take them out while my film wastes away. all of my 600 film has an expiration date of June. it still functions just fine though that wont last forever..
one could only wish for such wonders!

I greatly enjoy the way that nature takes over man placed items time and time again. I have yet to read it, though the book The World Without Us sounds like a must.

The first picture is pure magic to me. I came across it on the last day of our most recent camping trip. We were on our way to rent some water craft item, though it was raining on&off and deemed unsafe so we stuck around and cooked over a fire in the rain at 'home' instead. The site was nice and on the water.. without bugs! I crafted up a storm so pictures will soon be on the way of that.

Today I finished reading 12 Steps To Raw Foods. I'm still uncertain as to if I enjoyed it or not, though I got some great information out of it. Just.. not my typical type of enjoyable reading.. a bit too easy. I'm currently working on The Sunfood Diet Success System written by David Wolfe. It's a great read and much different from the traditional raw food books I've seen/read. This one touches on every topic you could imagine and It's also filled with inspirational words and journal lessons to help keep motivation strong.

I must say, today was the best 100% raw day of my life thus far, and I look forward to plenty more!

Exciting news: July 7th = full moon and for once I'm NOT working.. instead I'll be taking part in my very first session of outdoor, at the beach, beneath the (full)moon Kemetic Yoga experience! I'm greatly affected by the moon and I'm usually trapped in a building filled with all that energy- I do hope this is a way to level off for me

Midnite is playing in South Florida!! Not only close enough to go, but also for only $15.00! To top it off, I was given a free ticket by a gracious brother I met just the other day :)

My date of birth is right around the corner so I've taken 10days off from work so I can go live in the woods of Northern Florida like the little woodland creature I long to be

Upon my return home, I had a package waiting for me from Heidi,! Look at that birdie stamp! It's just precious and perfect as he sings little words of great things held in between firm brown paper. The package held 40 beautiful squares of fabric from the last fabric swap she held. How charming it is to hold pieces of material such as these! I love touching and seeing old fabrics and giving them stories as to whom the original owners were and what purpose they had planned to give those threads.. (then i selfishly find myself quite happy that they never used that piece - as it was meant for me to have for my own little projects) I cannot wait to start turning these gems into items! A big THANK YOU! to Heidi and her wonderful blog full of greatness :)
I've taken some of my granny squares and turned them into zippered items. I'm quite thrilled with the way they turned out - just as I had imagined.

I've found that my favorite place to embroider is on the beach or in the woods, and that's exactly where these little creatures were born. Before leaving the east coast, he&i. had lunch at a park we usually bike ride at and found ourselves feeding a beautiful little fellow nuts and seeds. He got SO CLOSE that I'm sure we could have hand fed him if we tried long enough.

My spider bite? has gone away completely but I felt it necessary to create one out of thread and linen anyhow. He is built from metallic brown and metallic green cotton thread. I'm thinking of keeping this as a wall hanging.Over the years my diet and eating habits have changed so much and it's almost as if it's never enough. I'm always striving to learn more, change more, give my little machine of a body better fuel. My first attempt at raw eating took place a handful of years ago when i did my first fast which lasted over one month. That time was the most liberating time where I drank only water, unsweetened tea, and on days of work, a small amount of organic juice. No matter how great I felt I found myself back on cooked foods while still maintaining a fully vegan diet. On and off for a few years I went raw for a month here, a few weeks there, and sometimes even just giving up and eating nothing raw at all! Most recently this year, when I took my very first yoga class, I made a promise to myself - I will take yoga as often as possible and eat raw whenever possible. My first yoga class was Kemetic Yoga, which holds a belief in maintaining a raw diet. Since then I've gone to tons of classes in various styles and no matter the variety of yoga, my body just screams that it doesn't matter.. raw food is live food.. Vital food. So far, so good. I eat mostly raw these days, though I've been craving soup and bread recently.. Items I haven't had in quite some time. The more research I do, the more i see that I cannot continue to do this to my body. I've gotten to the point where cooked food seems unappetizing to me and I find my body unhappy with cooked foods when i do eat in that style. This book has been a fantastic read. One which I found myself reading until 3 in the morning and once again in my hands when I woke up for yoga at 9! I will be good to my machine as it does for me everything I need.

Last night we went to the cinema and saw Food Inc.
there wasn't anything in the film that i didnt know already, but it was yet another push for me to continue eating raw foods and growing my garden foods. I'm rather eager to read the book - i'm not much of a movie person and books always have so much more information which is usually left out of movies. Food Inc is only being played for a short time at select cinemas, see it if you can!

Beach Day!

Up until September, I have the ability to have 3days off per week instead of the normal 2. Since these days usually fall in a row, I've been taking day trips and multiple day, day trips around Florida. This past time it was to visit Sheena on the other coast of Florida. I took many polaroids which I will be posting later and crafted for many hours, which I will be putting into the Etsy Shop shortly. Boy and i headed to Fort Myers Beach around 8am and stayed all day... floating around on our backs for hours in the water, letting our locks swim around our heads! I've never been to a beach where I've found such beautiful shiny shells and seen real sand dollars! Unbleached and beautiful.Last years summer goal was to visit and camp in as many parks as we could around Florida - this year, we'll be seeing how many Florida beaches we can swim in & camp on!

yesterday i began making crocheted flowers and i haven't been able to stop since!
i plan on taking these and making a few special things that do not include pillows, as i usually see. though, in the future, i do plan on making one since i haven't done so in the past and i think they are beautiful.

i have also finally taken some pictures of a completed whale zip up that i pieced together last week. i have a handful more to finalize this week

the next two days&nights are mine and they'll be spent in the outdoors, come bugs or rain, crafting up some new hand-sewn items. i'm rather excited to start my very first granny square creations as well as fine knitted lace wearables!
